Translating TED Talks

In my idle times, of which there are many, I try to translate TED Talks into Turkish, my mother tongue. But this was the first Talk given by a Turkish person, Elif Shafak, and the most fun translation that I have ever made.

“The Politics of Fiction” being the title of the Talk, Shafak is telling how powerful stories are in conveying a message. Reading and listening stories widens the imagination; telling them lets us leap over cultural walls, embrace different experiences, feel what others feel. She builds on this simple idea to argue that fiction can overcome identity politics.

From now on; I will try to write posts about the translations that I have made. Until then, the other Turkish translations are available here.
